Learning Qur'anic Arabic

As-Salaam Alaikum,

“And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colours: verily in that are Signs for those who know.” (Qur'an).

All of the languages and colors belong to Allah. We often hear that Arabic is the Language of Allah but it is Allah that has made all languages possible through his creation.

In reading an interesting article about babies who become bilingual, it is reported that the baby is born being able to distinguish all of the sounds from all of the languages. “Each language uses a unique set of sounds,” the researcher says. “Scientist now know babies are born with the ability to distinguish all of them, but that ability starts to weakening even before they start talking, by the first birthday.”

“Mastering your dominant language gets in the way of learning a second, less familiar one.” “The brain tunes out the sounds that don’t fit.”

We could say intuitively the other sounds that form languages still exist even as we become adults. However, to extract them in their logical patterns for communication may be quite a task. Perhaps, through a different method of learning from the toddler we have the ability to learn other languages.

We also may conclude or postulate that Arabic may not be the best spoken language to choose for universal communication, but it is the best language for reading, understanding and preserving religious scriptures.

We have the ability to learn and understand the Qur’an from it’s original Qur’anic Arabic text that will give us a better understanding of its message.
